Brian Joffe (64)

Non-executive chairman, appointed July 29 1994

Director of numerous Bidvest subsidiaries and of Icelandic Water Holdings and chief executive of The Bidvest Group Limited, Bidvest Namibia’s holding company. Brian founded The Bidvest Group in 1988 and was appointed chief executive in 2004. He has over 33 years’ South African and international commercial experience. He was one of the Sunday Times’ top five businessmen in 1992 and is a past recipient of the Jewish Business Achiever of the Year award. Brian was listed as one of the Top 100 Africans of the Year in the 2001 Africa Almanac and was voted South Africa’s Top Manager of the Year in 2002 in the Corporate Research Foundation’s publication “South Africa’s Leading Managers”. He represented South Africa at the Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur of the Year awards in 2003 and was Sunday Times’ Businessman of the Year in 2007. Brian was awarded an honorary doctorate by Unisa in 2008 and in 2010 was saluted by the WBS (Wits Business School) Journal as one of South Africa’s top 25 business leaders.

Chief executive, appointed August 10 2007 Director of several Bidvest Namibia subsidiaries and, among others, of Nedbank Namibia Limited and the Namibian Stock Exchange and chairman of Namibia Post. Sebby has more than 15 years’ senior executive experience and rejoined Bidvest Namibia after several years as head of the Namibia Port Authority.

Managing director of Bidvest Namibia Fisheries Holdings, appointed January 17 2007 Director of several Bidvest Namibia subsidiaries Jan has more than 25 years’ executive experience in the fishing and mining industries. He is a member of the Midwater Trawl Association of Namibia, a member of the advisory board of the Sam Nujoma Marine and Coastal Resources Research Centre and of the Marine Resources Advisory Council of the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources and a trustee of the Namibian Trust for Maritime and Fisheries Training Institute.

Incoming financial director of Bidvest Namibia, appointed August 18 2011 Director of several Bidvest Namibia subsidiaries, Theresa has 10 years’ managerial experience across various industries. She is a former group financial manager of the Ohlthaver & List group of companies.

Managing director of Bidvest Namibia Commercial Holdings, appointed January 17 2007 Hans-Werner has international and Namibian experience in financial and general management in the dental, oil, gas, seafood and freight industries. He is a former managing director of Manica Group Namibia.

A director of several hotels in the Canary Islands. José has over 40 years’ experience of the fishing and tourism industries and is the founder of several Namibian hotels and fishing companies. He is co-founder of the Welwitschia Hospital, Walvis Bay, and the Indira Ghandi Hospital in Ovamboland and founder of the Bastos Foundation.

 
     

David Edward Cleasby (49)

Group financial director of The Bidvest Group Limited, appointed to the Bidvest Namibia board on January 17 2007 A director of numerous Bidvest subsidiaries and associate companies. David was financial director of Rennies Terminals when Bidvest acquired Rennies in 1998. In 2001, he joined Bidvest corporate office, where he has been involved in both Group corporate finance and investor relations.

Martina Kebitsemang Mokgatle-Aukemes (42)
A director of several boards in the fishing industry, Martina is a communication and public relations specialist. She has executive experience in the Ministries of Education, Regional and Local Government and Fisheries and Marine Resources and has held senior positions with Sea Harvest and Alexander Forbes Group Namibia. Martina is currently managing director of Naneni Investments.

 
     

Hans Harald Müseler (61)

Hans-Harald, a professional with 21 years’ experience as an accountant and auditor, retired as a partner in the assurance division of PricewaterhouseCoopers and is a past member of the executive committee of PricewaterhouseCoopers Namibia and a representative on the firm’s southern African governing board.

Martin Kalie Shipanga (42)

Director of numerous companies and a successful entrepreneur. Martin has management experience in the mining and financial services industries. He is a former chief executive of the City of Windhoek and was the first indigenous managing director of the Commercial Bank of Namibia (now Nedbank Namibia). He was responsible for establishing and launching SmartSwitch Namibia.

Managing Director and Executive chairman of Taeuber & Corssen (Pty) Ltd, Director of Taeuber Management Trust, SMC Brands (Pty) Ltd [Liquor marketing and distribution in neighbouring countries], T&C Properties (Pty) Ltd and Director of Fountainhill Estates (Pty)Ltd. Konrad has participated as an executive director for a number of operations in The Bayer SA & Taueber & Corssen Group’s. In addition he managed T&C Enamels (Pty) Ltd & Republic Enamels (Pty)Ltd. He also served on the boards of Harman & Reimer (Pty) Ltd, Merck SA (Pty) Ltd, Agfa Photo (Pty) Ltd, Roxburgh Trust (Pty) Ltd.

Konrad served on the board of the WWFSA, also Chairman of the TMF (Table Mountain Fund) and as Chairman of the INR (Institute of Natural Resources UPMB) managed a restructuring & rehabilitation of this entity. In addition he served as Chairman of the IOD (2001/2) and participated in the preparation of the King 11 Report on Corporate Governance in South Africa.
