In one moment, your floor looks clean and in the other it looks like people have been tap-dancing on it with mud-riddled shoes. Maybe that is somewhat of an exaggeration but no doubt, especially tiled floors have a tendency to get grubby in a very short space of time. Apart from the fact that a dirty floor is in fact an eyesore, it is also riddled with germs so you should ensure that you are mopping regularly from a hygiene point of view.
We have an extensive range of mops that will serve you in a most optimal level. That said, here are some great tips (in no particular order) to ensure that you are mopping efficiently.
Tidy Up
It is a no brainer that you need to first tidy up the room before mopping. That means move unnecessary clutter that may be in the way. You should also vacuum or sweep the area as it takes a lot more effort to mop when there are foreign particles scattered across the floor.
Begin At The End
The following may sound like a rudimentary tip but you will be surprised about how many people do not subscribe to this practice. When you mop, you should always start at the end of the room and work your way to the entrance. When you do the opposite, i.e. begin at the entrance you will unwittingly step over the mopped area. Starting at the end ensures that you avoid this.
Rinse The Floor
Once you have finished mopping your floor, especially if you have kids and pets, you should give the surface area of the room another mop with plain water. The extra rinse will catch any spots you could have potentially missed as well as prevent foam stains.
Clean Your Mop Regularly
Your mop should be cleaned regularly. Vinegar is a great way to kill germs that may be lurking in the strands of the mop. Regular washing will also preserve its life as it will not deteriorate as a result of bacteria. You should store the mop upside down, the excess water will then drain from the mop’s top.
Keep The Windows Open
When mopping, you should ensure that you have opened the windows. By doing so, you increase the flow of air which helps your floor dry faster.
Never Rinse Your Mop In The Sink
Many people wring their mop in their sink – that is something that you should avoid at all costs. The water that accumulates on your mop head is often soaked in germs. You don’t want your toothbrush, shaver etc. to come into contact with that water. Rather dump it outside or into a toilet.
